Formality, Formal

A formal wedding is marked by much the same styling as a black tie wedding with a few exceptions. The fact that the wedding is formal is also indicated on the invitation. The bride still wears a formal gown but with a shorter or no train and an elbow length veil. The bridesmaids still wear long gowns. The groom and groomsmen wear white shirts, black ties. Cummerbunds under tuxedos without tails. The meal is still plated and served. The guest count is typically less than a black tie wedding. As in a black tie wedding the event can be held in the afternoon or evening.
